MINFI’S VISIT TO DEVOLVED SERVICES: LEAVING THE SOUTH WEST REGION WITH SATISFACTION

The Minister of Finance, Louis Paul MOTAZE, made this declaration at the end of his visit to the South West region in Buea. This was during the solemn launch of the budget of the State and other Public Entities, in January 15 to 16, 2025. According to the Minister, it is a tradition that, whenever he is on the field, to have sometime with his collaborators, to be abreast with the working conditions and particularly if they are having some pressing problems. The Minister visited the Regional Control of Finance office and the Regional Treasury in Buea. He later moved to Limbe, the seaside town of friendship, where he visited the Directorate General of Customs and was received by the Chief of Sector and received military honours from the Custom officers. He equally visited the Cameroon Development Cooperation (CDC), and was received by the workers with great excitement. It was timely, considering that, all of their salary arrears has been paid by the government. In the same vein, the General Manager , Francklin Njie, praised the government’s effort to alleviate CDC’s debt. During a working session with his collaborators, which marked the last lap of his visit to the South West region, the Minister reiterated the policy outline of the government and what is expected from them.

During the visit to the services in Buea like in Limbe, the Minister noted with satisfaction of comfortable working conditions contrary to what is obtained elsewhere, though it can be improve.

On the expectations from the collaborators, the Minister recalled them on the prevailing economic and financial crisis and the efforts which the government is doing to come out of it. Saying the government, he referred to the collaborators entirely, the ministry of Finance.

What the ministry has to do in terms of resource mobilization. The Minister expressed satisfaction on the good performance by the South West region, despite the fact that, it is experiencing crisis. However, the Minister exhorts them to do more, be it on taxes, Custom or on none fiscal revenue.
