CAMEROON-EUROPEAN UNION: Towards increased mobilization of forest revenues
The Republic of Cameroon and the European Commission, acting on behalf of the European Union, have signed a financing agreement aimed at increasing the performance of the agricultural and forestry sectors.
Regarding the forestry sector, the sector reform contract, subject of the financing agreement, retained indicator 3.4 which aims to increase the mobilization of mobilization and transparency of tax revenues from the forestry sector.
It was therefore up to the Forest Revenue Security Program to build a database on forest information, to produce and publish an analysis report of the data collected based on an estimate of the expected tax revenue from compared logging. at the level of payments actually paid by operators. The said report highlights five (05) emblematic cases of inconsistency which will be the subject of an in-depth investigation.
